Read Like You Talk Reminders:
Learners who have had difficulty reading due to poor skills may skip
words or change words to other words. Explain they must read, not guess.
When reading orally, it is important that they read no faster than their
normal talking voice. In fact, slowing down adds interest and insures
sufficient time to inflect and comprehend. When reading with a learner,
encourage her or him to read fluently, not quickly. Remember, we think
faster than we can talk.
