Who can use the program? To use MindPlay T.E.A.M.™: FLRT, students must be able to read and comprehend what is read at a first grade reading level. In addition, students must be able to physically operate a computer mouse.
What is different about MindPlay T.E.A.M.™: FLRT? MindPlay T.E.A.M.™: FLRT relies upon scrolling technology to improve eye tracking, thus increasing reading speed. Students practice the technique using passages of differing lengths, from a single window to a full page of text. In addition, the passage library contains engaging and grade-level appropriate material. There is an option to select decodable text as well. The text adjusts to fit the computer screen and accommodate younger learners.
For what reading levels is this program appropriate? MindPlay T.E.A.M.™: FLRT is appropriate for readers at a 0.5 to 12 reading level.
Will it work for students with Special Needs? Yes. MindPlay T.E.A.M.™: FLRT works well for students with special needs because it is systematic and methodical. It allows them to work at their own pace on a variety of high interest stories.
Will it work for English Language Learners? Yes. MindPlay T.E.A.M.™: FLRT will work with this population as long as they know English phonics. As the learner becomes more proficient in English, this program will definitely help them improve their rate of reading fluency and reading comprehension.
Does the program test the learner? No, the program allows you to set your initial reading rate then automatically adjusts the rate and reading level based on your success. However, MindPlay T.E.A.M.™: FLRT does not assess reading skills.
Is the program difficult for students? With only a brief introduction, students will be able to complete the activities independently. As students’ reading rate improves, they will enjoy reading.
Is the program difficult for me to use? No, the instructions displayed on the screens are clear and self-explanatory.
How many students’ can use the program? The program is purchased for unlimited use by workstation.
How can you receive future updates of MindPlay T.E.A.M.™: FLRT? A MindPlay T.E.A.M.™: FLRT institution can download updates from our website or call MindPlay to request the latest version within their edition for free. For later editions, a nominal upgrade fee may be charged.
If a student has reading difficulties, will the program correct them? MindPlay T.E.A.M.™: FLRT is a practice program that will help improve fluency - speed and comprehension accuracy. It will not address basic reading skills. My Reading Coach is better suited to address these gaps.
Is this program self-sufficient or do we need additional resources? It depends upon student skill levels. For most students who have basic reading and comprehension skills, MindPlay T.E.A.M.™: FLRT will improve both comprehension and fluency.
What if there is a technical problem with the program? Technical Support is available between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. MST, Monday through Friday. MindPlay is closed on all major holidays.
